Pronounced "oh-peer", this is a Gin for cardamom fans and those of you who love the flavours in chai tea.

Its botanicals include spicy cubeb peppers from a Indonesian island, cardamom and tellicherry black pepper from Kerala, cumin from Turkey, juniper from Italy, coriander from Morocco and oranges from Spain.

Cubebs are used to treat numerous ailments, and are reputed to be an aphrodisiac, to have magical powers, and to be helpful in warding off demons.

Opihr Gin smells of the cocktail of spices it's made with, especially the cardamom. Its distinct aroma is soft, rounded, complex and balanced. It tastes bright and fresh to start with - you can taste the orange and coriander. Its slightly sweet, with a spicy heat that builds gently, before fading into a long, soft finish of cardamom and juniper.

Here are the tasting notes from Opihr:

"Nose: A rich oriental spiced gin with a smooth perfume and sharp bursts of citrus. Key notes of cumin and cardamom provide a warm earthy background balanced with the grapefruit peel.
Taste: Soft camphor, some sweetness and oriental spices create a warm mouth feel that lingers but does not increase in intensity.
Finish: Long length with soft cracked black pepper and spice."

Opihr the legend

King Solomon regularly received cargoes of gold, silver and spices from the legendary region of Opihr. Its exact location remains a mystery, but it is thought to have been in the Orient along the ancient Spice Route.

The exotic botanicals in Opihr Gin are distilled with English grain spirit at the oldest distillery in England, using the same traditional London Dry Gin method it’s used since 1761.
