Created by Carlos Camarena, a third generation Tequilero (El Tesoro, Tapatio) and Global Tequila Ambassador, Tomas Estes (Cafe Pacifico, La Perla), Ocho is three generations in the making, with the family-led business producing extremely high-quality tequila in the old-fashioned (slow and artisanal way) since 1937 and all tequila made by the Camarena family is produced exclusively from agave from their own fields, a fact that few other producers can claim.
OCHO bears the first ever ‘tequila vintage’ - both the year it was produced and the precise field from which the family grown agaves were sourced, demonstrating that “terroir” isn't just reserved for wine.
Named Ocho, which is eight in Spanish because it takes an average of eight years for the agaves to ripen before being harvested, eight days from when the agaves reach the patio at the distillery until it becomes Blanco tequila, eight kilograms of agave to make one litre of Ocho tequila, The Camarenas are in their eighth decade of producing tequila and Ocho Reposado is aged for 8 weeks and 8 days.
The Reposado is made from 8-10-year-old highland agave harvested from different single estates at different altitudes in unique microclimates and then gently aged in oak casks - resulting in a subtle nutty & vanilla character.
