Wear a bandanna and get ready to fly with this kamikaze recipe. This cocktail is essentially a variation of the classic margarita.

Because this cocktail is so similar to the margarita, it's likely that it was first made well before its official creation date of 1976. However, it was originally listed as a shooter, and it was common in the clubs of the '80s. Fast forward 30-ish years, and this kamikaze recipe makes a slightly longer cocktail that can be enjoyed rather than thrown back in one smooth movement.

  • A cocktail glass
  • 1 single shot of Russian Standard vodka
  • 1 single shot of Cointreau
  • 1 single shot of lime juice
  • Ice
  • A cocktail shaker
  • Lime to garnish

How to serve it

  • Pour the ingredients into the cocktail shaker, and shake vigorously.
  • Strain into the cocktail glass, garnish with a slice of lime and serve.

Variations on this kamikaze recipe also have it being served as a shooter, although the quantities need to be reduced substantially, or simply increase the number of shots being served. You can also substitute a mid-range tequila (such as José Cuervo Especial Reposado Gold) for the vodka to create a drink that's similar to the margarita.
