Products from Citadelle
Although Citadelle Gin as we know it today began in the 1980’s, the recipe itself can trace its roots back to when Dunkirk was an important port in the spice trade. During this time, new and exotic flavours started pouring in from abroad, from coriander from Morocco and orange peel from Mexico, to violets from Sri Lanka and liquorice from China. During this time, two local entrepreneurs, Carpeau and Stival, decided to experiment with distilling these new flavours and subsequently opened their own distillery.
Those with a preference for dry Gin should try the Citadelle Old Tom Gin, The addition of Caribbean brown sugar to this gin has produced a sweet and sour profile with notes of soft caramel, anise, almond and lemon zest. There is no mistake that this is one for gin enthusiasts!
