Botanical Spirits are set to be the talk of the drinks cabinet this year, with drinks expert Simon Difford predicting them as the number 1 trend for 2019 - they’re spirits that are made in the same way as gin, and offer the complexity of using different botanicals, but crucially without the juniper - and Ketel One’s Botanical Vodkas are a new exciting addition to our shelves.
In three forms; Cucumber & Mint, Pink Grapefruit & Rose and Peach & Orange Blossom - the Ketel One Botanicals clean and flavourful. Like all of their iterations, Ketel One put quality before everything, and their 327 years of distilling expertise, passed down through 11 generations, really shines in these new liquids.
They start with clssic Ketel One Vodka, and after distillation the liquid is infused with the natural essence of fresh, crisp botanicals found in each flavour. This delivers a spirit that is a lower ABV than traditional vodkas (30%) which a fresh and sophisticated taste, that when served with soda is only 73 calories!
Muddle 2 slices of cucumber, 1 slice of jalapeño, and 6 mint leaves with 25ml of lime juice and 1 tsp agave syrup in a cocktail. Add 50ml Ketel One Botanical Cucumber & Mint and lightly shake with ice for 8 seconds. Strain into a glass over ice. Top with soda and garnish with mint sprig and a lime wheel.
Peach & Flowers
Combine 100ml of cooled Camomile Tea in a rocks glass over ice with 15ml lemon juice, 50ml Ketel One Botanical Peach & Orange Blossom, and 1 tsp honey.
Sumac Salty Dog
Rim your glass with a sumac & salt mixture and then add ice cubes to glass followed by 50ml of Ketel One Botanical Grapefruit & Rose, 50ml fresh grapefruit juice and 50ml soda. Garnish with a grapefruit twist.
