Frosé - How to Make the Drink of the Summer

Zz028JDtWg5Wm1

This summer, we've been taking inspiration from the hottest rooftop bars in NYC who have been serving up frozen rosé wine slushies (a.k.a frosé) to parched punters looking to cool off in style. But it doesn't take a trip across the pond and few hundred dollars in order to replicate the refreshing trend at home. What it does take is a bottle of rosé wine, a freezer, some strawberries, vodka, grenadine and a blender.

That's it.

No fancy artisan syrups, no steeping, no sieving. None of that. It really is that simple.

Happy times.

So here's how to do it:

FROSÉ RECIPE

Ingredients

- 1 x bottle of Rosé wine. We used Whispering Angel. - 300g of strawberries - 1 tablespoon white granulated sugar - 50ml vodka. We used Black Cow. - 2 tablespoons grenadine - (crushed ice)

Method

1. Pour the Rosé into ice cube trays and freeze overnight. Because of the alcohol the cubes won't be totally hard, so a baking tray is equally as effective. In order to pry the cubes or the slushie rosé from the trays, use a small knife or spatula - but more on that later.

2. Leave the Rosé in the fridge overnight.

3. Chop the strawberries, removing the leafy head, into approximately the same size pieces. Add to the blender with the sugar and allow to sit for 10 minutes or so, letting the berries release their juices.

4. Add the vodka, grenadine and frozen Rosé cubes to the blender. Blend the mixture on high until smooth, adding a little crushed ice if necessary to thicken.

5. Pour the mixture into glasses and garnish with a strawberry.
