The dairy-free cousin of The White Russian, the Black Russian is actually original, created in the late 1940s at the start of the Cold War. It was created by bartender Gustave Tops, a bartender at the Hotel Metropole bar in Brussels for the American ambassador to Luxembourg, Perle Mesta. It's been said that Gustave created the drink to allude to the dark times following World War II.
- 60ml Vodka
- 30ml Coffee Liqueur
Add all the ingredients to a mixing glass with ice and stir. Strain into an ice-filled Old Fashioned glass.
