Gospel Green Brut is the most champagne-like cider you’ll ever see (and sip). This is cider but not as you know it!
In 1990 Gospel Green’s founder, James Lane, started making his own artisan cider in order to convince his wife Cathy, a lifelong cider-opposer, that it was possible to produce a super sophisticated cider worthy of her attention.
James used a blend of Bramley, Cox and Braeburn apples, as well as Russet for added nuttiness and earthy undertones. All apples were (and still are) handpicked from the Blackmoor Estate in Hampshire, and then made into cider using the ‘champagne method’ to guarantee supreme quality and taste.
Much to Cathy’s delight, the resulting cider was a sensation. James’ creation was light and delicate, similar in texture and taste to a sparkling wine or champagne. His job was done and in 2016 Brock Bergius took over the mantle of Gospel Green and is their current cider maker.
To this day Brock uses James’ original recipe for Gospel Green’s Brut. The result is an award winning crisp and rounded cider with aromas of elderflower, green apple and brioche. Perfect with poultry, pork, cheeses and desserts
