Cocktail of the Week:
Negroni Sbagliato Sprizzato

Cocktail of the Week – Negroni Sbagliato Sprizzato

For this week’s Cocktail of the Week we decided to add a twist to the Negroni. For those who don’t know what a Negroni Sbagliato is, it’s simply a classic Negroni that uses Prosecco instead of the traditional Gin. The name comes from ‘wrong’ or ‘mistaken’ in Italian. We’ve decided to put our own 31DOVER twist on this variation by using Sprizzato instead of the classic Campari. And the result – well it’s surprisingly good.

1 measure Martini Rosso

1 measure Sprizzato

Top up with Bottega Prosecco

1 orange / orange zest

Pour the Martini Rosso and Sprizzato into a mixing glass filled with ice and stir

Strain in an ice filled Old-fashioned glass

Top with Bottega Prosecco

Cut a twist of orange zest removing as much of the pith as possible

Pinch the peal at the ends and twist - this sprays the surface of the drink with oils

Garnish with an orange twist

The substitute for Campari in the Negroni results in a more pleasurably light drink, lending itself to more floral tones. This fuses perfectly with the fruity tones of apple, citrus, peach and pear in the Bottega Prosecco. The finish on the tongue is a truly bitter-sweet sensation.
