Jean-Jacques Godet with his three sons Jean-Edouard, Maxime and Cyril
Jean-Jacques Godet, represents the 14th generation of his family to run Godet Cognac. His three sons all have a role in the business.
In March 2008, Jean-Jacques embarked on a sailing trip to Antarctica accompanied by 10 crew members. They landed on the Antarctic continent 70° south of the equator. It was the first yacht of such a small size to succeed in docking at that latitude and in so doing broke the world record.
WHAT ARE YOU UP TO AT THE MOMENT?
Along with my crew, I'm in the middle of preparations for the upcoming season of regattas with my yacht Rhapsodie. The key races will take place in the Atlantic Ocean and at Cowes on the Isle of Wight. Most notably we will defend our 2013 title at the Fastnet Race in August 2015.
GET HOME, FEET UP, WHAT'S IN YOUR GLASS?
A Godet family drink: Cognac (of course) with soda and a slice of lime on the rocks! Very refreshing.
IF YOU WERE A DRINK WHAT WOULD YOU BE AND WHY?
A VSOP Cognac because it represents youth, spontaneity and freshness!
YOU CAN CHOOSE ANYONE TO TAKE A SEAT NEXT TO YOU AT THE BAR - WHO IS IT AND HOW WOULD THE NIGHT GO?
Someone who loves life and speaks about his or her life with passion. We would talk passionately about the things in our lives.
SHAKEN OR STIRRED?
Stirred - it is a gentler and less aggressive.
FINALLY, WHO WOULD YOU RAISE A GLASS TO AND WHY?
To everyone in my life who gives me great optimism. À la vie!
