Meet Alex Kammerling, creator of the innovative British Aperitif Bitters, Kamm & Sons. Alex has been working in the drinks industry for over 20 years. During his time as a bartender, he made drinks for royalty, rock stars, and famous actors, invented hundreds of cocktails and published his own cocktail book. He's also worked with some of the world’s biggest drinks brands, including Grey Goose, Campari and Bombay Sapphire.
WHAT ARE YOU UP TO AT THE MOMENT?
We have just put a new bar called the Brit Spritz Bar in at Street Feast's new Venue Hawker House in Haggerston, London. It is a very small affair but is really cosy and we'll be selling a range of signature drinks every Friday and Saturday until 4th April 2015.
GET HOME, FEET UP, WHAT'S IN YOUR GLASS?
A nice IPA, a chilled Lillet or a Kamm & Sons (Yes, I still like my own booze!).
IF YOU WERE A DRINK WHAT WOULD YOU BE AND WHY?
Is this Blind Date? I would be a peaty Scotch Cilla; hard work to get to know but a rewarding friendship in the end.
YOU CAN CHOOSE ANYONE TO TAKE A SEAT NEXT TO YOU AT THE BAR - WHO IS IT AND HOW WOULD THE NIGHT GO?
Gaspare Campari – we would talk booze and branding until the early hours…although my Italian is a bit rusty.
SHAKEN OR STIRRED?
FINALLY, WHO WOULD YOU RAISE A GLASS TO AND WHY?
Jamie Oliver. He has put himself out to improve eating (and now drinking) culture in this country and overseas and has achieved so much for someone so young.
